[cups.general] Duplicate jobs even if requested just 1 copy

Hi

Thanks for the quick reply. I checked and there's no eggcups running
anywhere in the network, desktop-printing is not even installed on my
servers here. Can we look at other possible reasons ?

Thanks

Randomly, some jobs requesting just 1 printout are printed multiple times,
like twice, three times even 7 times. All servers are Redhat Enterprise
Linux ES, central cups server is RHEL 3 (with compiled from source cups,
v1.22), the oracle apps servers are RHEL4 with cups 1.1.22-0.rc1.9.11
(latest and greatest(?)).

HP, various types and Zebra, various types as well. I have built another
cups server running on RHEL 4 ES, builtin cups, the same issue, it doesn't
seem to be OS dependent or cups version dependent.

Could it be that you (someone at your site) tried to administer CUPS using
the
gnome printer management? That usually (to my limited experience) activates
the eggcups daemon which tries to monitor the print job's progress even on
remote cups servers
using the RH hacked in dbus interface. And this is not part of the standard
1.1.x source
distribution.

If this suspitions turns out to be true, try to kill every (yes every)
eggcups running in
your network, avoid using the gnome printer management and let us know if
the issue persists.
