[cups.general] banner problem

Welcome to the (small) club. :(
As far as I can determine from debug logs, CUPS gets confused when a
job comes in whose second (and later?) file(s) don't need
processing: jobs I forward with lpd (forced to application/octet-
stream) print, whereas jobs forwarded via ipp (including those
spooled by Samba), and which therefore are already preprocessed
appropriately, simply don't do anything (cupsd sets up to print them
but seemingly ignores the data file(s) completely when building the
pipeline).
I sent a debug log here a couple weeks back but have not heard
anything since, except a couple of other reports of the problem (also
not responded to).
