Thanks for your reply.

I modified cupsd.conf to read:

<Policy glennan312-policy>
<Limit Send-Document Send-URI Print-Job Create-Job>
Allow from g312-01.eecs.cwru.edu
Order allow,deny
</Limit>
</Policy>

and restarted CUPS. I'm still able to print from a different machine, volatile.engineering.cwru.edu.

access_log shows:

volatile.ENGINEERING.CWRU.Edu - - [13/Oct/2006:16:12:41 -0400] "POST /printers/glennan312 HTTP/1.1" 200 519 - successful-ok

(the hostname capitalization difference is a known thing around here unfortunately)

For a brief moment an hour or two ago I would get this on the dis-allowed client:

sak8 at volatile:/u/sak8# lpr -P glennan312 /etc/hosts
lpr: error - unable to print file: client-error-forbidden

However I have no idea what I did then vs now.
