(still) accented letters dropped

hi,

I have the same problem as a post from Hans on sept 30: accented letters are dropped on printers, physical or cups-pdf. However, its works fine when text is directly translated to ps with mpage. This leads me to some questions to be able to understand what's going on:

- which engine's used to translate text to ps in cups ?
- How can I launch the command (text to postscript conversion) by hand ?
- Is the ps file written somwhere or is it only transient in RAM ?

I've looked in /var/spool/cups, but it seem that it only contains some kind of commands, not ps itself.

My system: RHEL 3, cups 1.2.0, kernel 2.4.21
cat /etc/sysconfig/i18n
  LANG="fr_FR.UTF-8"
  SUPPORTED="fr_FR.UTF-8:fr_FR:fr"
  SYSFONT="latarcyrheb-sun16"

in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf, I've tried "utf-8" or "iso-8859-1" for "DefaultCharset"

thanks for youe help,
