cups-1.2.5 problem

I have installed cups-1.2.5 on two linux machines. It's working fine on 
one, but on the other the only driver option I get is "raw." I can 
manually select a ppd file, and the printer works after a fashion. By 
that I mean, the document prints but the job is never removed from the 
queue; I have to do that manually in order to print another job.

Both machines print via ipp to an EpsonNet print server attached to an 
Epson C86 printer.

What should I look for to help resolve this?
