how to install foomatic/hpijs via cups os x

trying install hpijs using cups. downloaded hpijs.dmg and installed but it will not show in the list of drivers when i try to install my printer via cups. photosmart 7350 on a netgear wireless print server using 10.4.7 and cups that comes stock with the os. everything works fine when i use gimp-print -- i would like to try hpijs. gimp-print seems like it prints very slow and not bi-directionally. thankyou.
