problem with shared printer and cups 1.2.2

I have a small wireless network, 3 pcs running Ubuntu 5.10 (CUPS 1.1.23) connected with an USR5461 router. The router has an usb port with a Samsung ML-1520 laser printer plugged. The printer is reachable as 192.168.2.1:1631/printers/My_Printer. I never had any problem printing from any of the pcs in the network.

Then I updated one of the pcs to Ubuntu 6.06 (CUPS 1.2.2) and the result is that not only I cannot any more print from the updated pc but also, if I try, I prevent the other pcs from printing too, until I reboot the router.

Browsing the Italian Ubuntu forums I see that this problem is known, and the suggested solution is to downgrade to CUPS 1.2.0. I did so and now I am again able to print as before.

This message is to inform you, just in case you weren't yet aware of this problem.

Best regards,

Daniele Lugli
