USR5461 Printing problems

>From the command line (Applications / Accessories / Terminal) type:

ps -el | grep cupsd

You get back a line that looks something like this:

5 S     0  2111     1  0  76   0 -  2298 -      ?        00:00:00 cupsd

Do this several times, maybe 5 seconds apart, and note the time field on the RHS. Is it increasing? How fast?
