/usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip failed

I am new to both Linux and CUPS, so I would appreciate any help from anyone.  Here is the problem:

I cannot print and receive this error message in the log:

failed(/usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip) stopped with status 1!
cupsdAuthorize: Local authentication certificate not found!

If you know what this means and have a solution for me, please let me know .  Thank you.  (My e-mail is ctran1 at cfl.rr.com).
