Problems with filters

Hi I'm running a setup running Skolelinux (debian-edu) with a central server and several LTSP-machines.

Printing works fine on the server - printing and setting PPD-specified options.

Everything looks great on the LTSP-machines (they have browsing enabled, and sees all the same printers, and can access the PPDs and shows all options as usual with lpoptions).

But when printing from the LTSP-machines the filters aren't run, but the output is sent straight to the printer. This happens to work to the level that the document actually comes out of the printer, but any options set in the PPD are of course ignored.

Any ideas? Can you get these kind of results from setting permissions wrongly?

P.S. The printer is a Cannon IR 2570.
