[cups.general] Mac connecting to CUPS server on SUSE

There is no official CUPS 1.3 for openSUSE 10.2. We released several
versions of cups-1.2.x for openSUSE 10.2. only.

Did you download, compile and install cups-1.3 from www.cups.org?

Try out the hplip driver at the server too, please.

Did you allow to accept printjobs (on openSUSE server) from remote
hosts? It's not allowed in a default configuration, as the bad guys
from the internet might do so too. Only the individual admin knows
which hosts are trusted hosts.

Have a closer look at http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:CUPS_in_a_Nutshell
to configure this. Especially:
http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:CUPS_in_a_Nutshell#Configuring_CUPS_in_the_Network

You might want to use the IPP protocol instead of LPD, when doing
connection from client to server. Your Device URI contains "lpd:"
as very first part.
