Ricoh 1022, PXLMONO and PDF's

Hi,

I am having a strange issue with a Ricoh 1022.

The Environment:
CUPS 1.2.7 with Samba 3.0.24 on Debian 4.0 Etch
Windows XP and 2003 Clients
Ricoh 1022 MFC using PXLmono generated PPD

All types of documents (Office, PDF, etc) seem to print without a hitch, except for the following - PDF files created by a scanner (mainly by Ricoh's scanning software). Those take about 5-7 minutes to start printing, while the fomatic process seems to hog a lot of CPU.

Using the windows driver on a raw queue works fine (but not the preferable solution).

Any pointers welcome
