How set cpi & lpi for a ascii-job?

Ok, i read http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Using_Your_Own_Filters_to_Print_with_CUPS
over and over again, but i am not familiar enough with that stuff.
Maybe someone can describe step by step what i should do to get the
data on a paper.
The printer is a hp -deskjet 1120C with A3-paper.
