I assume you mean the cNNNNNN files in /var/spool/cups/ ?
These are kept by default to feed the "job history" feature, that is
available through the web interface.
If you set "PreserverJobHistory No" in cupsd.conf, the respective c*
file will get deleted after each job.
If you set "MaxJobs 33" (or any other figure), only the last 33 jobs
will be in the history. Default is 500, IIRC.
