Instead of patching the pstops filter, I'd rather propose to write a
special filter to "sanitize" the PS stuff generated by paps. This could be
easily done by a e.g. Perl script (similar to the oopstops filter, see the
links).

Though, the best what could be done is to persuade the paps author(s) to
change their stuff to output really DSC compliant PostScript.
