jobs printed from (stdin) print but stay stuck in the queue as "stopped" jobs

Hi--

I purchased the CUPS Companion CD and installed CUPS painlessly.  It works, and CUPS test pages go through the queue perfectly, but our production print jobs are all being printed from the command line:

bbx >lp -dtestpr

or

bbx |lp -dtestpr

or

lp -dtestpr /etc/hosts


In all of these cases, the test job shows up in the queue, gets printed, and then goes to "stopped" and stays stuck in the queue.

Having to delete all the stuck stopped jobs is quite a chore--how do I fix this problem?  (I am a newbie to CUPS--apologies if I need a little more help than most.)
