[cups.general] Printing on Minolta 1300/1400W slow with usb backend

Two users report that when they print to their Minolta through the usb 
backend of CUPS printing is slow, and they can solve the problem by 
using a "file://dev/usblp0" URI.

At least one of them uses the CUPS coming with Ubuntu 6.06, which is an 
early 1.2.x. Is this problem known? Is it perhaps already solved in CUPS 
1.2.7?
