Job title is not showing up on cover sheet

I'm running I'm running Linux RHEL 3 on my IBM PC laptop,
which uses CUPS to control printing. When I submit a print
job using the form

	 lpr -T <title>

the cover sheet is supposed to list

	Title: <title>

but instead it lists

	Title: -

I also tried the forms

	lpr -C <title>
	lpr -J <title>

and they do the same thing. Everything else works -- duplex,
rotation, page size, so there's nothing major that's broken.

Is there a way to debug this? Does CUPS keep some kind of
log of the job parameters, or can I look at the print
control-files to see if the job-title parameter is being
passed correctly to the print-server?
