Getting Printer status

Hello,

I am using Linux 2.6.16 on ARM (Debian Linux). I have connected USB Printer. It is working fine.

My problem is how should I get the printer staus like
  - Printer not connected
  - Paper Jam
  - Paper Out
  - No toner/Toner Low, etc.

Is there any way to interact with cupsd and get the staus or any other method available.
