[cups.general] I'm stuck rebooting into windows to print with black ink...{sigh!}

I'm stuck rebooting into windows to print with black ink...{sigh!}

This is very annoying from a guy who is unwilling to boot an M$ O.S. on
one of "MY" PC(s) without either first disabling internet access. (such
as by unplugging the ethernet cable) or first purging all my personnel data.

But if I don't find out how to get the cups driver to successfully  use
the black ink cartridge for black text, All I can think of to do is find
out how to do an "offline" install of cygwin so that I can stand working
under M$ long enough to find the documents I need to print. But I don't
suppose anybody ported mc {midnight commander} to the cygwin  environment
yet. So I'd really rather get at least one of my linux to print with
"black" ink...

If anybody has a clue what's causing this, or better yet how to fix it,
please let Ne know!
