lpoptions -r does not work

I just tried this using a Toshiba Satellite M30 running gNewSense 1.1. "aptitude show cupsys" shows 1.2.0-0ubuntu5. I found the same problem. However, in this case there isn't even a .lpoptions file in my home directory.
