cupsd.conf changes settings by itself

I am running CUPS 1.2.7 build from source on a Fedora 4 platform (2.6.15-1.1831_FC4smp).
Compiling and installing went smoothly.
In the web interface under administration I disabled “Show printers shared by other systems” and enabled “Share published printers connected to this system”, “Allow remote administration” and “Allow users to cancel any job (not just their own)” and save this setting supplying the root passwd. Once done the attached printer HP Laserjet 1022 appears on the LAN and prints without problems.
Unfortunately after some time (between 5 min and several hours) this settings get reset to the default and the printer disappears from the network.
Does anyone have the same problem and eventually a solution?
Thx
Juergen
