[cups.general] PDFs do not Print

This proves that the printer's hardware is working. Also the
communication protocol is correct.

Something wrong with your CUPS printing system. I assume you also cannot
print test page from CUPS webUI for this printer.
Submit the test page, open /var/log/cups/error_log,
Search for pstops. You should see a line like
"Started filter /usr/lib/cups/filter/pstops (PID12344) for job 100"
"Started filter /usr/lib/cups/filter/Foomatic-rip (PID 23554) for job
100"
"Started backend /usr/lib/cups/backend/socket (PID 2345) for job 100" 
You should see some error message there. 
Check /etc/cups/cupsd.config and make sure "LogLevel info" is there and
restart cups "/etc/init.d/cups restart"
