Printing to a serial printer connected to a terminal server

I have a serial printing connected to a annex terminal server and would like to print in raw format from cups to the printer.

The printer is set up as socket:\\annex-name:annex_port_number

>From the ESP gui interface, the printer says it is ready. When I print a print job to the printer, the job says it is printed and it shows up as a printed job in the /var/log/cups/page_log file. However, nothing ever prints on the server. Is it not possible to print to a serial printer connected to a terminal server?
