If these codes are configured at the printers themselves,
I suspect it needs a proprietary protocol to pass this
information to the printers. E.g., for KonicaMinolta
multipurpose devices, the 4 digit numeric code must be
transformed into a 72 byte key string by a proprietary
algorithm, and this key is sent to the printer via
a special PJL command.

It requires some reengeneering skills to settle this issue.
