Signal handling and error_log messages

I was curious to know if the CUPS scheduler possibly stops outputting data to stderr from a filter once the user cancels a job, therefore, my filter's output to stderr is simply routed to /dev/nul or something? Still investigating this; any insight would be appreciated.
