Hostname As Source of User Field

By default CUPS uses the IPP requesting-user-name field when logging details about which user sent the job.  This is unreliable for my organisation as users have their own laptops with their own choice of username.  However, the username is reliably in the DNS-resolved host name.

Is it possible (without compiling a bespoke version) to get CUPS to use the host name for the user field rather than the username specified by the user?
