Latest CUPS killed all my OS X printers

You need to either restart or try the following commands:

     sudo launchctl unload 
/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.cups.cupsd.plist
     sudo launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.cups.cupsd.plist

None of these are suitable (or generally safe, since they'll break
things) for CUPS 1.2.x.

Launchd can sometimes get confused when you do an update/install
of an existing service...
