No, sorry. Was printing happily before and could not print immediately
after upgrading CUPS.

Did not run any OS X installs.

Was installing the OS X-specific package.

Me neither, until this last version.

Mmmhh... I think you confuse a CUPS install with an OS X install. I
installed CUPS with the nice OS X package. If a restart is required,
the installer should prompt me for one.

I provided version of OS X I am using, version of CUPS I installed, and
symptoms. If you have a specific request (system log, etc.), just ask.

Well yeah, but I *HATE* rebooting my computer.

Fortunately, the solution suggested by Michael Sweet below just worked.

Well, duh, I *did* install the OS X version, and yes, by golly, that
*is* something I DOWNLOADED.

Not that I know of, except for the printers I added.

OK, all of this now irrelevant because of the fix.

I wrote to the list *because* CUPS didn't work and I could not find a
hint on the CUPS web page on what went wrong.

It was a good idea, IMHO, because:

1. Michael helped me out and that fixed my problem

2. I may not be an expert on CUPS, but perhaps the information that
something is wrong with the installer could be a useful feedback to the
CUPS developers

3. There is now a documented fix for the problem. If someone else is in
the same situation, he can find the fix just by looking at this
newsgroup.

My renewed apologies if my post was inappropriate.
