Does the cups 1.0 USB backend support bi-di communication

Hello All

If I install the printer driver (postcript) via USB, in a mac machine (10.4.7 Intel/PPC -CUPS version 1.0) I couldn't get expected printer installed options in 'Printer setup utility' application.
I read that cups 1.0 usb backend doesn't support bi-di.
Is it true and is it the problem because of that?

Can anyone please help me out?
