Suppress form feed

Is there a way to suppress form feeds? I have a legacy BBx program that uses the lpr command to print raw text to printers. On laserjet printers it is ejecting a blank page after the print job. This use to be fixable in SCOUnix by commenting out the "echo \f\c" in the printing interface model and it was also fixable on the old cups service in Linux by adding :sf: to the printer in the /etc/printcap file. How would I go about doing this now?
