Correct.
For Basic authentication over localhost, there is implicit support
for multiple credential passing protocols (SO_PEERCRED, certificates,
AuthRef's, etc.) in addition to the normal username/password provided
by Basic auth, but otherwise you just get the AuthType you specify.
