USB printer not detected

In search of a solution to my problem I have come across this old message, describing exactly the same problem I have: my usb connected printer is detected by lsusb, but not by lpinfo, and therefore I cannot install my Brother printer locally.
Have you found the answer to your question below? I would appreciate info. Thank you.
