The CUPS book covers device URIs fairly extensively, and you'll find
documentation on the network devices in the on-line help:

     http://localhost:631/

Normally you don't have to mess with serial, parallel, and USB device
URIs because the web interface and various GUIs provide pull-downs for
each of the options available for the device.
