IIRC, you have Windows clients using CUPS raw printers via Samba?
What drivers do these Windows clients use? The native vendor drivers
for the Windows platform?

Also, can you post the output of this command:

  testparm -vs|grep -E "cups|print|driver|spool|lp"        ?

(it produces an extract of the actual Samba configuration used by your
smbd processes -- including the silently set defaults which may not even
be spelled out in your smb.conf...)
