Congestion / Slow MS print server -> CUPS

Hello Everyone,

Currently we have several organizations in the US sending LPR print jobs to a central CUPS server, which then relays these print jobs to various printers.

We are currently in the middle of migrating from an older server running CUPS version: 1.8 (is this 1.1.8?) to a new server running CUPS 1.2.4

The issue we see is that when the print workload picks up the remote Windows server(s) starts to see a backlog (as if the CUPS server stops/slows down accepting jobs) when all the remote queues are pointed back to the old CUPS server this backlog immediately clears and doesn't return even during the next busy time.

There are a lot of variables that have changed and we are stalling on our troubleshooting; any ideas where to start with this issue?

CPU and Memory seem to be inline / Maxclient is set to 1500 on both the old and new server, although they don't seem to be printing anywhere near this amount.

Thanks! Eric
