swedish characters (åäö) from lp or lpr print gibberish

It's a known bug in the Mac OS X text filter; as a temporary solution
you can comment out the text/plain line in /etc/cups/apple.convs and
then do:

     sudo killall -HUP cupsd

to register the change.
