encrypted printing with cups

Hello,

is there a small howto about encrypted printing available?

which steps have to be solved?

today I tried to print from a cups 1.3.2 to a Canon iR C2880 with the
following device uri's

   ipp://<hostname>:631/ipp?encryption=always
   ipp://cobp0708:631/ipp?encryption=required

but I only got the message "host not found".

without the encryption option every thing works fine!

any information are welcome.
