[cups.general] Printing EPS files?

How should EPS files be printed? Can they be printed as they are, using
lp?

Looking at this bug report:
  https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=431145
where someone is trying to print an EPS file using CUPS 1.3.5 and it
isn't working, I'm not quite sure whether:

* the CUPS pstops filter should add 'showpage' when necessary for EPS
files; or

* evince/gv should add the showpage to the EPS file before submitting it
as a print job; or

* the EPS is malformed.

Any ideas?

Tim.
