[cups.general] cups 1.1.7 takes a long time to reboot

We are still on v.1.1.23 and yes, this is a known problem, however, be aware that the MaxJobs directive will NOT work correctly as it only keeps the first 500 jobs or whatever you have it set at. As a result, we have a process that we run approximately every two to four weeks depending on what the customer wants that goes out and gets everything PRIOR to that number of days using the -mtime option.

HTH and have a GREAT day!

1.1.7 is ancient.

Anyways, the long boot times might be caused by excess job history
data; removing all of the "c" files from the /var/spool/cups
directory (which, BTW, will cancel all jobs) and then stopping and
starting cups will eliminate that startup delay.

You can use the MaxJobs directive in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf to set
the maximum number of jobs that are kept - the default in 1.1.7 was
0 (unlimited), while newer releases have a default of 500 jobs.
