[cups.general] TempDir variable

Can anyone clarify for me the purpose of the TempDir variable?

Ours was accidentally deleted but everyone and ALL our printers could print except for print queues defined as what I call lpr queues; in other words, spooling to a 'server' print queue (i.e. "lpd://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/print" where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is your IP address and 'print' is the name of the spooler on the receiving printer).
