[cups.general] Alternative pdftops filter does not work any more

CUPS does not print PDF files any more due to a problem of the 
alternative pdftops filter coming with Ubuntu's CUPS package not being 
able any more to start the pdftops of Poppler. See the error_log 
attached to the Ubuntu bug report.

I am using /usr/bin/pdftops filter version 3.00 from poppler-utils 
0.6.2-1 on Hardy. The alternate pdftops filter is the current version 1.20.

Helge, do you know what is happening here? Can you provide a fix?
