On my network I have Ubuntu 7.10 running CUPS with a laser and a high 
speed line matrix printer.
I can see the job queue from any computer on the network with a browser 
connecting to http://myprintserver:631/jobs.
It lists every job with who sent it, the time it was sent and other data.
That sounds like what you are looking for.
