CUPS 1.3.5: Cannot use printer ShortNames

Hello,

We have a central CUPS server running Solaris 10 and CUPS v1.1.23 and a test client machine, also running Solaris 10, which has been upgraded to CUPS v1.3.5.

The client machine has recently lost the ability to print using the short names of printers on the CUPS server. I read that this was a known bug in one of the 1.2.* versions of CUPS, (and I realize that our server needs to be upgraded...we're in the process), but I can't upgrade the server to 1.3.5 until I know for sure that the inability to use printer ShortNames is the fault of the server and not the client machine running 1.3.5.

lp: The printer or class was not found.

[4995-eb1850 at unixbuild-~] lp -d itq2 at v240-01 /u/eb1850/Documents/CUPS/test_print.txt
request id is itq2 at v240-01-15 (1 file(s))

I have verified that 'BrowseShortNames' is set to Yes in the server's cupsd.conf file. I have also disabled the 'BrowsePoll <serverFQDN>:631' and 'BrowseProtocols cups' directives on the client machine as they were causing it to consume 100% CPU whenever an lp-related command was issued...(lp, lpstat, etc).

I can post the cupsd.conf or any log files (from either server or client machine) upon request.

Thanks in advance,

Evan
