'auto-configuration' - What does that mean?

A fresh installed xp does not work either. Same problem.

I will try that, but this solution is not acceptable ...

Linux works, Mac OSX works, Windows 2000/XP/Vista with shipped drivers works, but only if you want to use the original driver it fails.

What I have figured out:
- If I set up the printer on CUPS as RAW Queue, installation on xp with original driver fails ('spoolsv' hangs).
- If I set up the printer on CUPS as Generic Queue, installation on xp with original driver fails ('spoolsv' hangs).
- If I set up the printer on CUPS with according PPD, installation on xp with original driver succeeds, but printing is impossible (application crashes).

I may be wrong but: Is it possible, that there is a problem with driver on CUPS? I think the windows driver assumes some printer attributes that are not or incorrect supplied by the PPD. Is that possible?

Thanks a lot for the help,
- Thomas
