eclipse printing

I wonder if anyone in the CUPS community can shed some light on the following bug that appears to have something to do with interaction of CUPS, GTK+ and the eclipse IDE.

I'm not blaming CUPS! But maybe someone can suggest something in CUPS configuration that might help the situation:

using 32bit and 64bit versions of eclipse I get a consistent 20sec pause when
opening any file in eclipse 3.3

-vmargs -Dorg.eclipse.swt.internal.gtk.disablePrinting

fixed this problem, though I don't know what triggered it, as I haven't updated
eclipse or gtk+ recently.

I realized that I am using a client.conf file for CUPS, this file is only
needed if one wants to get all printers listed on a CUPS server. Most of the
time I can't reach the server listed there because I'm on the road so I checked
lpstat -a and realized that this hangs as well in that case.

Eliminating client.conf solves the problem with Eclipse directly, I don't have
to specify the disablePrinting option anymore.
