With regard to this thread

It seems that RFC 2911

   http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2911.txt

section 3.2.1.1 Print-Job Request lists "compression" as an Operation Attribute and not a Job Template Attribute.

Does this not interfere with the patch for STR 2997 ?
