CUPS errors when printer is offline

Hello. I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 and I have CUPS 1.3.7 installed.
I have two network printers: a Samsung ML-3560ND and a
Konica Minolta Bizhub 250.

The problem I have is that often I forget to turn on the
Samsung in the morning. When I send a print job to the Samsung the job never gets printed.

On the CUPS web admin page I get "recoverable: host <IP> is busy; retry in 30 seconds" and when I turn the printer on I get "host not accepting jobs!"(SIC). the print job is still no the server but if I try to "reprint" the job - it doesn't allow me.

I get around this by moving the job to a class containing only the Samsung. Then the job gets printed.

The printer is downstairs so it is no fun going downstairs only to walk back up and then down again. Although it is good exercise.

What settings are there to get fix this. I'd rather see a message that the "printer maybe offline". and then a successful print when the printer is turned on. - or the ability to print the job from the admin page.
