I have found that somewhere along the line a AppArmor profile in Ubuntu started affecting CUPS. One problem I'd been having that seemed spontaneous was that I could no long have my default directory for CUPS-PDF be my desktop. I have alleviated this problem by modifying the AppArmor profile.

However, nothing I have tried has yet to solve this failing authentication issue (I tried disabling Authentication altogether...)

Authentication works fine for HTTP stuff (from the local machine and from remote machines - including windows). However when it comes to actually using the printers, in Ubuntu the printers don't even show up in the print dialog and in Windows it says that I'm unauthorized.

Does anyone have any experience with issues like this? What could be causing these failed authentications from so many places?
