SNMP printer detection

Yes, bonjour can automatically detect the printer. There is no problem detecting my printer. In the printer setup utility in mac, there is also a portion there that the user can choose to manually type ip address of the printer. Then the OS auto detects what PPD to use when it matches. I guess it does not use bonjour. Any idea if cups has something to do in this case?
